Fat Cow Annabelle and her owner at the fair
We love 4H. We love kids spending time on their projects and educating others about the breed. This young lady does both. She is a great showman and herdsman, spending quality time with this heifer.
Fat Cow Farms is a small family farm in beautiful Central Oregon. We raise a heritage breed of Scottish Highland cattle as well as fresh vegetables that you can come pick yourself.
Our cows are an important part of the family farm. On our Pictures page, you can see some of them getting socialized and used to the halter. Once weaned they go into a small pen where we read books and generally hang out with them a few hours a day. From here we pick the candidates for 4H competitors and other shows. We choose those that will enter our breeding program as well.
We choose our animals for temperament, wanting animals that are always comfortable around people. There's always volunteers for reading time with the animals. If you come by at the right time of year you can hang out with them, feed them and spend time with these friendly, curious creatures.
